Dubai Creek - Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid gives his approval for a brand new tower

A landmark in the making

A very modern, appealing and sophisticated observation tower is on its way as Emaar Properties discloses designs for the same. The Dubai Creek area of the city is going to have a new landmark with a height that is going to lord over the other structures in the vicinity. The construction of this new tower is expected to commence very shortly in the coming few months.
 
It will bring a new attention and appreciation top the Dubai Creek area with the addition of this amazing and beautiful structure. Most importantly, the tower’s design has been agreed to and been approved by Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. The tower is still awaiting an appropriate name that would do justice to its iconic status.

Best amongst the best

There were almost 6 entries by some of the world’s best designers and Sheikh Mohammed gave the go ahead after careful study of each one of them. The one design that has been given the nod has come from a consultancy firm headed by the famous architect from Spain, Santiago Calatrava.

The shortlisted design by the Spanish master architect is a perfect blend of Islamic and modern architecture and was chosen for its fresh idea. Sheikh Mohammed marveled at the design and likened it to an awe inspiring wonder that would be as iconic as the Eiffel tower and the Burj Khalifa.  Some of Mr Calatrava’s high profile designs and works include legendary projects like the World Trade Centre Transportation Hub in New York, the Chicago Spire Tower, and the Olympic Sports Complex in Athens.

The Emaar Properties chairman Mohamed Al Abbar thanked Sheikh Mohammed for his continued support and confidence in Emaar’s projects and also confirmed that the new tower would be a very significant step towards making this region a very attractive cultural symbol for tourists as well as the general public in Dubai.

The new and modern tower in Dubai Creek is to be linked to a central island district within the Dubai Creek Harbour district. This huge project is already being developed together by Emaar Properties and Dubai Holding. The development is planned in a wy that it would have the best of both the worlds, world class residential buildings with all the facilities, amenities that one could wish for and commercial buildings to have the best companies from across the globe and these would be integrated along with a 4.5km creek boardwalk offering retail, dining and entertainment units for a global audience that would savor every moment that they spend in this great city of Dubai.
