Dubai Holding begins work on AED25 bn Mall of the World project

Dubai Holding has begin the initial design work for phase 1 of one of its most ambitious retail projects - the AED25 bn Mall of the World project.

The mixed-use project is to be built in two phases and will cover an area of approx 1.7 million sq mts in central Dubai. The project is expected to take another 15 years for completion with the funding spread over the same period.  

Comprising of five key elements namely retail, residential, office, hospitality and entertainment, The Mall of the World project includes 278 buildings spread across a mammoth 3,525,000 square metres.

As per its approved layout and design, the project will include several attractions like shaded parks, sidewalks, temperature-controlled arcades and bridges and malls over short distances to ensure providing maximum comfort to its visitors.

Work on the project implementation is likely to commence after securing all the required approvals from government agencies such as the Road and Transport Authority, Dubai Electricity and water Authority and Dubai Municipality which are expected to be obtained by late 2016.

As per the new master plan, visitors and residents will be provided with connectivity to the surrounding city, relying on seven modes of transport. This includes a network of 33 roads, 152,500 sq mts of walkways and plazas, bicycle routes, bus and shuttle services, metro and trams and a unique attraction in her form of gondola rides.
